Why it matters

Languages live when people carry them forward.

Learn it. Use it. Pass it forward.

Language is more than vocabulary. It can carry stories, relationships, humour, knowledge, identity, memories and ways of seeing the world.

Across families, communities and generations — and especially within diaspora communities — people may understand part of a language but find it difficult to speak it confidently or pass it on. Mayele wants to make that connection easier to strengthen.

Mayele Learn is for anyone who wants to learn or better understand an African language, whatever the reason.

Greetings & Introductions

Product preview

Lingala

Mbote!

Meaning

Hello / Hi

How people greet each other can depend on the situation, familiarity, age, relationship and community.

Hear it in context

Audio recorded with native speakers is planned for every lesson, at natural and slower speed.

  • Mbote! — Hello!
  • Mbote na yo. — Hello to you.

Illustrative example of the learning experience in development. Language examples are indicative until validated.

Built around the learner

Not everyone starts at lesson one.

Choose what fits you best to see how Mayele could support that kind of learner.

How Mayele would support you

I'm starting from zero

Mayele starts with the foundations — sounds, everyday words and simple sentences — and builds one clear step at a time, so you always know what you are learning and why.

01

Structured Learning

A clear learning path helps you understand where you are, what you are learning and what comes next.

02

Real Language Skills

Build the ability to listen, understand, speak, read, write and interact.

03

Culture in Context

Learn not only what language means, but how it is used in real social and cultural situations.

04

Personal Guidance

The experience can become increasingly relevant to your level, goals, progress, strengths and difficulties.

Learning progression

  1. Recognise
  2. Understand
  3. Recall
  4. Produce
  5. Interact

The goal is not to become good at Mayele Learn. The goal is to become better at the language.

Trust, quality & responsible AI

African languages deserve to be built with the people who know them.

Technology can support language learning, but AI should not independently decide what is linguistically or culturally correct. Official core learning content should, where appropriate, be reviewed and validated by suitable human language experts and competent native speakers. For less documented languages, regional forms and language variants, Mayele applies additional care and quality control.

Quality before quantity

We would rather build one language properly than publish ten shallow courses.
