Who is responsible
Mayele Labs (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the company behind this website (mayele-labs.com) and Mayele Learn, our first product, currently in development. Mayele Labs is responsible for the personal data described here.
Privacy contact: info@mayele-labs.com
What we collect
We collect personal data only when you voluntarily submit one of the two forms on this website. There is no account system, and you can browse the whole website without giving us any personal data.
Early Access form
- Email address (required)
- The African language you’re interested in learning (required)
- Your current level (optional)
- How you reached the form (source), recorded automatically
- Date and time of submission
Contact form
- Name (required)
- Email address (required)
- Reason for contact (required)
- Your message (required)
- Date and time of submission
Abuse protection — when a form is submitted, we store a one-way cryptographic hash of the sender’s IP address together with a timestamp, so we can limit how often the forms can be used. The original IP address is not stored and the hash cannot be read back as an IP address.
We do not collect any other personal data. We do not use analytics, advertising trackers or tracking cookies on this website.
Why we use it, and on what legal basis
Early Access registration — we use your email address, language interest and level to keep you informed about Mayele Learn’s development and to let you know when early access becomes available, which is what the form invites you to sign up for. We also look at language interests in aggregate to help guide product development. Legal basis: your consent, given when you choose to submit the form (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time.
Contact enquiries — we use your name, email address, reason and message to read and respond to your enquiry. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in handling messages people send us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR); where your message concerns a possible agreement with us, we also rely on steps taken at your request before entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Abuse protection — we use hashed IP addresses to rate-limit form submissions and block automated abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the website and our systems secure and usable (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do not use your data to make automated decisions about you.
Who processes your data
We use the following service providers (“processors”) to operate this website. Each only processes data as needed to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — stores form submissions in our database
- Resend — sends the internal notification email that tells us a form has been submitted
- Lovable / Cloudflare — hosts this website and processes standard request data (including IP address) as part of serving and protecting it
- STRATO — business email hosting for the info@mayele-labs.com mailbox, through which Mayele Labs receives and manages business email and form notifications
- Google Fonts, Fontshare — host the typefaces used on this website; your browser connects directly to these services when loading a page, so they may receive your IP address and browser information as a technical part of that request
We do not use any analytics, advertising or tracking services.
How long we keep your data
We keep contact messages for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and to keep a record of the exchange, and we delete them when they are no longer needed. We keep Early Access registrations until Mayele Learn launches and the early-access programme has run its course, or until you ask us to remove your details — whichever comes first. Hashed IP records used for rate limiting are short-lived and only relevant for the rate-limit window.
These periods are reviewed and applied by us manually; we do not currently run an automated deletion process. You can ask us to delete your data at any time and we will do so.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Restrict our processing
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including contact handling and abuse protection
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw your consent for Early Access communications at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@mayele-labs.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
International data transfers
Our database provider, Supabase, stores submitted form data within the European Union (Paris, France). Our hosting provider, Lovable / Cloudflare, operates a global edge network, so the technical processing of requests — including IP addresses in request logs — may pass through servers located outside the EU. Our email provider, Resend, and the font services Google Fonts and Fontshare are global services and may similarly process data outside the EU.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. Form data is validated on the server, stored in a database with access controls that prevent public reading or writing of submissions, and protected against automated abuse through rate limiting. Access to submissions is limited to the people who need it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Mayele Labs and Mayele Learn develop. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
